DESCRIPTION:February Kids Activities at Discovery Place Kids – Rockingham\nLooking for indoor kids activities in Rockingham this winter? Discovery Place Kids – Rockingham is the perfect place for families to explore\, play\, and learn together. From science shows to story time\, every visit is filled with hands-on fun for kids of all ages. \nAll museum events and activities are free with admission. \nFebruary Theme: Winter Olympics & Black History Month: This month we are celebrating the spirit of the Olympics while honoring Black History Month. Through inspiring stories of trailblazing athletes\, children will learn about teamwork\, determination\, healthy bodies\, and believing in themselves. Each week we will connect movement\, creativity\, and real-life role models\, encouraging kids to dream big\, try new things\, and discover the power of hard work and resilience. Plus\, our museum will have an Olympic challenge competition to complete all around the museum.  \nClick here to view our Olympics themed activities:\nOlympicsHere’s What Else is Happening in February:\nSpecial Programs\nValentine’s Day (all day) | February 14\, 2026\nLove is in the air- and so are paper hearts! Join us at the Art Studio where kids will design and build their own paper heart structures using simple materials\, testing how tall or strong their creations can be.  \nMessy Member Morning | February 17\, 2026 | During Member Hour: 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.\nRing in the Lunar New Year with art and creativity! During this special member morning\, kids will paint and decorate their own festive fans inspired by Lunar New Year traditions.   \nLunar New Year (all day) | February 17\, 2026\nCelebrate Lunar New Year with color\, creativity\, and tradition in our Art Studio! Kids will make their own paper lanterns while learning how lanterns are used to welcome good luck\, happiness\, and new beginnings!  \nAll Month Long \nWinter Olympics Challenge\nLet the games begin! Kids will take on our Winter Olympics Challenge by completing fun tasks throughout the museum. Each challenge tests movement\, creativity\, or problem-solving\, and every participant will finish as a champion by earning a gold medal!  \nPuppet Show\nFebruary Show: Tortoise and the Hare: A classic race with a twist! The Tortoise and the Hare face off\, but soon some familiar storybook friends jump in\, turning the race into a wild\, funny adventure!  \nScience Show | Every Day 10:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.   \nJoin us at the Science Lab all month for science experiments.  \nStory Time | Sundays at 1:30 p.m.\n Join us for story time as we read some of our favorites:  \n\nHow to Brush Your Teeth with Snappy Croc by Jane Clarke\nOlympig! By Victoria Jamieson\nThe Busy Body Book by Lizzy Rockwell\nYes\, I can! After the story\, children can design and build their own bobsleds with recycled materials. This will take patience and teamwork just like real Olympic athletes.  \nFebruary 10 – 16: \nRun\, Jump\, Breathe: This week we explore the story of Jesse Owens while discussing how athletes keep their bodies strong\, especially in their hearts and lungs. We are going to bring cardiovascular health to life by making a DIY lung model to see how breathing fuels movement to keep us active and healthy.  \nFebruary 17 – 23:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIce Skating Magnetics Game: Glide into hands-on fun with our Ice Skating Magnetics Game! In this interactive activity\, children use magnets to guide skaters across a “frozen” surface\, discovering how magnetic forces push and pull to make them twirl\, spin\, and glide. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFebruary 24 – 28: \nDiscovery Place Kids-Rockingham Birthday Celebration! \nGet Museum Admission
