Upon arrival\, each future kindergartener will receive a special “Kindergarten Passport” to guide them through ten engaging activity stations that include: \n\nWriting their name\nTracing letters and shapes\nPracticing counting skills\nCreating artwork\nLearning about school transportation\nExploring their likes and dislikes\nSetting goals for kindergarten\n\nEach completed station will be marked in their passport\, creating a memorable keepsake of the evening. \nWhat Else to Expect \n\nInteractive learning stations focusing on essential kindergarten skills\nPhoto booth to capture this special milestone\nDemonstration of a healthy snack\nDental hygiene presentation\nTour of a real school bus\nInformation tables from local organizations supporting early childhood education\n\nThis event is an excellent opportunity for parents to learn about local resources and connect with other families and community partners. DESCRIPTION:The future is bright at Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham!\nWe’re preparing for back-to-school all month with crafts\, stories and interactive programs that sharpen children’s learning skills. Join us for fun themed activities throughout the week. \nSpecial Programs (Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:30 p.m.) \n\nAugust 6 and 8: Learning Letters: Join us for a reading of “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin Jr\, followed by crafts that enhance little guest’s letter recognition and fine motor skills!\nAugust 13 and 15: Cutting Skills: We will go over scissor safety and practice cutting lines\, zig-zags\, and waves as we sharpen our snipping skills. Your little learner will go to school with cutting confidence!\nAugust 20 and 22: Full STEAM Ahead: Learn the colors of the rainbow as we combine STEM and Art to make a rainbow! Using salt and glue\, we will create a chemical reaction and form a colorful abstract art piece.\nAugust 27 and 29: Silly Sensory: This week\, discover your senses as we use our fingers\, eyes and noses to create a silly sensory bag!\n\nPuppet Show (Wednesdays and Fridays at 3:30 p.m.)\nCome see the fun-tastic show “Circus of the Stars” back by popular demand. \nScience Show (Daily at 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.)\nJoin us at the Science Lab all month for science experiments. \nStory Time (Sundays at 1:30 p.m.)\nJoin us for story time as we read some of our favorites: \n\n“Pout Pout Fish Goes to School” by Deborah Diesen\n“ABC Mindful Me” by Christiane Engel\n“Chicka Chicka Boom Boom” by Bill Martin Jr.\n\nBig Fun (Daily ay 11:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.)\nBig Fun is where YOU are the star of the show! Get ready to dig up fossils and disco-like dinos and create dino-mite crafts as we explore the fascinating world of these ancient creatures!\nJoin us for fun-themed activities all month long during the week. \nJuly 2–8: Feasts for Beasts: After listening to “Can I Have a Stegosaurus\, Mom?” We will explore the difference between carnivores\, herbivores\, and omnivores. What did your favorite dinosaur like to snack on? Let’s find out! \nJuly 9–15: Junior Paleontologist: Become a junior paleontologist and dig into the fascinating world of fossils! We will learn about fossilization and get hands-on experience digging up dinosaur bones. \nJuly 16–22: Disco with the Dinos: Join us for a reading of “Saturday Night at the Dinosaur Stomp.” Afterward\, we will explore the size of dinosaurs and how they move around. Bring your boogie shoes to this dinosaur disco! \nJuly 23–July 31: How do Dinosaurs Go to School? Hear the story “How do Dinosaurs go to School?” and create your dinosaur craft to take home! \nAll Month Long \n\nDino Hunt: 10 of our dinosaur friends have escaped and are hiding around the Museum!
