DESCRIPTION:All Museum events and activities are free with admission. \nOctober’s Theme: Creepy Crawlers 🕸️\nJoin us this month for a bug-tastic adventure! We’re exploring bugs of all kinds—from the creepy-crawly to the nature helpers. It will be a fall-tastic time you won’t want to miss! \nSpecial Programs (Select Days – 1:30 p.m.)\n\nOctober 1-6: Ugly Buglies\nAll bugs are unique\, just like us! Join us for a reading of “The Bugliest Bug” by Carol Diggery Shields in The Studio. Learn about bug parts and create your own Ugly Buglies using recyclable materials. \n\n\nOctober 8-13: Nature’s Camouflage\nDiscover nature’s hide-and-seek game! We’ll read “Where in the Wild?” by David M. Schwartz and Yael Schy\, then play hide and seek with nature’s best masters of disguise. \n\n\nOctober 15-20: Nature’s Helpers\nLearn about bugs as nature’s tiny superheroes! After reading “The Very Greedy Bee” by Steve Smallman\, participate in a pollination activity to see how bees help nature. \n\n\nOctober 22-28: Creepy Crawlers\nSpin some spider magic! We’ll read “I’m Trying to Love Spiders” by Bethany Barton and create our spiders in The Studio. \n\nSpecial Activities\n\nAll Month – Wizards at Work: Create mystical potions in the lab using chemicals and spooky science.\nOctober 31 – Halloween Everywhere: Enjoy spooky STEM activities\, find skeleton parts in the DPKR Graveyard\, design your mask and more!\n\nSpecial Events\n\nOctober 31: Halloween Spooktacular (4 p.m. to 6 p.m.)\nJoin us in front of the Museum for candy and Halloween wishes as part of the Downtown Rockingham Spooktacular. \n\nRegular Activities\n\nPuppet Show: “Three Little Pigs” – An un-traditional spin on a traditional story (1:30 p.m. Wednesdays & Saturdays)\nScience Show: Fall science at the Science Lab (10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. daily)\nStory Time: Featuring books about spiders\, fall and Halloween (1:30 p.m. Tuesdays & Sundays)\nBig Fun: Daily dance party with our favorite songs (11:45 a.m. & 4:15 p.m.)\n\nPut on your dancing shoes and join us for a month full of buggy fun and fall festivities! \nPLAN YOUR VISIT

Upon arrival\, each future kindergartener will receive a special “Kindergarten Passport” to guide them through ten engaging activity stations that include: \n\nWriting their name\nTracing letters and shapes\nPracticing counting skills\nCreating artwork\nLearning about school transportation\nExploring their likes and dislikes\nSetting goals for kindergarten\n\nEach completed station will be marked in their passport\, creating a memorable keepsake of the evening. \nWhat Else to Expect \n\nInteractive learning stations focusing on essential kindergarten skills\nPhoto booth to capture this special milestone\nDemonstration of a healthy snack\nDental hygiene presentation\nTour of a real school bus\nInformation tables from local organizations supporting early childhood education\n\nThis event is an excellent opportunity for parents to learn about local resources and connect with other families and community partners. Your little learner will go to school with cutting confidence!\nAugust 20 and 22: Full STEAM Ahead: Learn the colors of the rainbow as we combine STEM and Art to make a rainbow!
