Embark on a thrilling adventure with Discovery Place Kids field trips and classes for children from Pre-K through Grade 2. We’ve crafted our Early Childhood Classes with your little explorers in mind. Through inquiry-based learning, we spark their curiosity and build foundational STEM literacy skills. We dive into topics like the magic of sound, the wonders of weather and the forces that shape our world.
Field Trip Curriculum
Our field trip curriculum is aligned with both North and South Carolina state standards and Next Generation Science Standards. This means we’re not just providing great field trips for young kids—we’re ensuring your students are getting a top-notch education.
Active Learning
Our Rockingham Children’s Museum team believes in the power of ‘learning by doing.’ We encourage your students to explore their world, test new ideas and develop both fine and large motor skills. This hands-on approach to field trip curriculum not only deepens their understanding of the world but also boosts their self-confidence.
Every 5 students requires one adult chaperone, who gets free Museum entry. Extra chaperones incur charges as per the above chart. For student safety, chaperones must accompany their group at all times. Please note, space constraints may limit additional chaperones’ participation in class programs.
State-certified schools from Pre-K through Grade 12, with a minimum of 15 students, are eligible for Field Trip discounts. Bookings should be made and paid in full two weeks before the visit to avail these discounts. The total amount may include applicable sales and use taxes. Please note, due to space constraints, extra chaperones might not be permitted to join class programs.

What a Bot Art?

Frequently Asked Questions
To qualify for our subsidized field trip pricing, you must be in a state-certified Pre-K thru 12 school with a minimum of 15 students.
One adult chaperone is required for every 5 students and admitted to the Museum for free. Additional chaperones will be charged the fees notated in the chart above. To ensure the safety of all students, chaperones must stay with their group at all times.
Due to space limitations, extra chaperones may be unable to attend class programs. In order to provide a safe environment, we will be forced to turn away groups who do not have the required chaperone-to-student ratio.
Cancellation notice of three weeks is required for a full refund. Cancellations with less than three weeks’ notice are non-refundable but may be rescheduled for a visit within a 12-month period. There is no fee for rescheduling as long as the class or visit is rescheduled within one week of the cancellation date and the visit is completed within the 12 months of the originally scheduled date.
Changes to the number of attendees must be made three days prior to the program or visit to receive a refund.
No refunds will be issued the day of the visit, and no refunds will be issued for amounts of $10.00 or less.
