February ThemeWinter Olympics & Black History MonthThis month we are celebrating the spirit of the Olympics while honoring Black History Month. Through inspiring stories of trailblazing athletes, children will learn about teamwork, determination, healthy bodies, and believing in themselves. Each week we will connect movement, creativity, and real-life role models, encouraging kids to dream big, try new things, and discover the power of hard work and resilience. Plus, our museum will have an Olympic challenge competition to complete all around the museum.

Special Programs | Daily at 1:30 p.m.

February 1 – 9:

Bobsled Engineering: Kick off the Olympic season by reading about the Jamaican Bobsledding team that made history with their journey to the Olympics. After the story, children can design and build their own bobsleds with recycled materials. This will take patience and teamwork just like real Olympic athletes.

February 10 – 16

Run, Jump, Breathe: This week we explore the story of Jesse Owens while discussing how athletes keep their bodies strong, especially in their hearts and lungs. We are going to bring cardiovascular health to life by making a DIY lung model to see how breathing fuels movement to keep us active and healthy.

February 17 – 23:

Gold Medal Smiles: When you win an Olympic medal, it is a tradition that you take a photo biting your medal. We are going to learn why dental care is important every day! Children will be able to practice flossing and brushing on a large scale!

February 24 – 28:

Dream Big: Glide into history and science with this program about Debi Thomas, an African American figure skater who broke barriers and showed what’s possible with talent, hard work, and heart. Kids will learn about her story, then explore forces in motion!
