A Brand-New Winter Wonderland Experience

November 18 – December 29

At Wintersville, children and families step into a frosty world filled with playful, hands-on activities and winter-themed adventures. Glide across a sock skating rink, dive into a flurry of indoor “snowball” fun and marvel at interactive science shows exploring everything from ice fishing and snowstorms in a jar to experiments with melting ice and the effects of cold and warm air.

Throughout the Museum, discover “ice” block building zones, balance across iceberg stepping stones and encounter Arctic animal surprises. Nearly every exhibit features festive decorations and seasonal twists designed to celebrate winter through the lens of playful learning.

Alongside the magic of Wintersville, in December enjoy these festive activities:

December 2 – December 8: Blizzards: Take a trip inside a blizzard to explore how wind and weather work together to make this phenomenon. Make your own snowflake to test how it withstands in our blizzard wind tunnel. Additionally, we are going to make mini blizzards in a bag to shake it up, watch the snow swirl, and see how the wind and weather create these conditions

December 11 – December 15: Northern Lights: Explore the glow of the Arctic Sky. Learn the science behind the Northern Lights to explore how solar energy and Earth’s magnetic field creates nature’s colorful lights!

December 16 – December 22: Animal Fur & Blubber: Ever wonder how animals keep warm through the winter? Explore the science behind their survival with this minds-on experiment.

December 23 – December 31: Snowflakes: Every snowflake is unique! At Discovery Place Kids we are going to make one of a kind cyanotype snowflake print!
